Kainuun Teräsmiehet Oy provides machine workshop services related to mechanical maintenance.

The company had no previous experience with ERP systems. Work orders,
quote calculations, and inventory management were operated using
the traditional “pen and paper” method, which boosted challenges in
meeting delivery deadlines, managing work hours, handling raw materials,
and transferring invoices to a separate billing system.

With these challenges in mind, the company began exploring and analyzing alternatives. With the support of our ERP experts, Kainuun Teräsmiehet decided to purchase CGI Suomi Oy’s ERP system, C9000.

Now, all work orders are recorded in the system, which allows for a clearly predictable order backlog. This enables production management to load production in a realistic manner.

Quote calculation also moved to the ERP system, enabling reliable material and labor cost calculations. Warehouse management was implemented, allowing inventory levels to be updated in real-time.

Missing materials for work orders can now be checked, and raw material orders can be placed directly in the system, with the exact required quantity. Delivered materials are immediately visible in the warehouse management system. This allows the company to free up capital tied up in inventory, which can then be invested elsewhere.

Once work is completed, the invoice is nearly ready after a quick final check, as the costs were already calculated during the quote/order phase. The time spent on invoicing was reduced to a fraction of what it was before, and invoices are sent to clients immediately upon job completion. This resulted in the desired boost to the actual payment timeline.

The entire project was completed quickly, under the leadership of our ERP project manager, in just four months.
